Harry Wright
“This year’s award winner was born and raised in Washington and attended Washington High School. After high school, our recipient worked in town for many years before going out on his own in 1975, starting a business that still operates in town today.
Our winner has made lifelong contributions to many organizations in town including the Fire Department for over 50 years and the Lion’s Club for over 30. Our award winner played a key role on the building committee to get the new firehouse built and was the driving force behind starting the lobster sales to raise money for the Lions club.
Our recipient has served on the Zoning Board as well as the Steep Rock Board and was instrumental in raising money to save St. Andrews Church in Marbledale from demolition.
Our award winner has served as a good example not only to his fellow citizens but also to his children as they both live and town and are also active in many civic organizations.
This year’s winner is an excellent example of an Exceptional Citizen, always willing to help, always ready to go the extra mile for the betterment of our community.
I am very pleased to announce the 2015 winner of the Major Stephen Reich Award for Exceptional Citizenship is Harry Wright”
